Selling Circularity to

Selling Circularity to
Skeptical Stakeholders (1 CEU)

Circularity doesn't need more believers.
It needs better storytellers.

Most people aren't against sustainability; they just don't see what's in it for them.

Join Green Standards for an interactive workshop where we'll challenge assumptions, debate real-world scenarios, and explore how circular economy principles create measurable business value. Together, we'll reframe the conversation from environmental impact alone to engagement, value creation, and operational resilience—helping you build support among even the most skeptical stakeholders.

Expect less theory, more strategy, practical exercises, lively discussion, and actionable ideas you can take back to your organization. Whether you're trying to reduce costs, strengthen resilience, gain executive buy-in, or simply move circularity from concept to action, this session will give you the tools to make it happen.

Workshop 2

Reclaiming Local:
From Scrap to Spec

The most sustainable material on your next project might already be in the building next door. Every year, Seattle's design industry sends mountains of premium commercial textiles to the landfill, and new legislation is about to make that the expensive option. Meanwhile, architects want local character they don't have time to source, and sustainability teams want authentic stories they can actually document. Join Redesign Collective for a hands-on workshop where you'll handle real materials from the 5,000 pounds of premium commercial textiles we've rescued from Seattle design waste streams, grade them the way a remanufacturer does, and design what they could become, then map how reclaimed and artisan-made products earn their place in a project's LEED, WELL, and Living Building Challenge goals. Expect less theory and more material: sorting, ideating, and leaving with a new way to see the intervention point that turns waste into specification. Come question the linear "design, install, dispose" cycle, and leave with a new way to give your next project a story worth telling.

Lisa Hilbert

Lisa Hilbert is a circular design entrepreneur, textile reuse advocate, and educator working to reintegrate reclaimed materials into commercial interiors. As founder of Redesign Collective decor brand and co-founder of ReFabrica workforce development program, she leads a Seattle studio that transforms post-industrial textiles into documented, locally made products, work recognized with the Washington State Recycling Association's 2026 Recycler of the Year (Innovation) award. A University of Washington graduate, Lisa served on the Washington Department of Ecology's Textile Co-Design Team and has engaged in the state's textile EPR stakeholder process (HB 1420), and she develops continuing education that helps design professionals bring circular specification into their work.
